LI DAN, RUBY (ORIEL COLLEGE, 2001 - 2005)
Having worked for a few years in legal field where knowledge updating is rather frequent, the particulars taught in lectures seemed less important, compared with one's capability to absorb and apply new information and skills. It may sound quite a cliché that continuous learning should extend beyond one's graduation, yet to me there are often a lot of things to learn.
As an in-house legal consultant, I am gaining more experience in Legal & Commercial management (mainly relating to Engineering/Energy fields), tasks involving contracts management, bidding projects, commercial issues, etc. Last year I assisted with an European organization's green energy projects, by preparing some commercial papers, and I'd like to take up more such work when I can spare time.
The opportunity offered to me by the David and Jayne Paterson Educational Trust has been an invaluable one which I'm deeply appreciative of, sincere thanks also to Rita for all her kind assistance. Oxford is the place where, as my tutor once said, "minds met and new coins melted"; I do hope we have been up to expectations well.
