LI BOWEN (WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY IN ST. LOUIS, 2015 - 2016)
My name is Li Bowen and I’m from China University of Political Science and Law. Sponsored by David and Jayne Paterson Educational Trust, I studied in Washington University in Saint. Louis for one year.
My past education is based on civil law of China. I’m really fascinated by the combination of theory and practice in commercial law area. Following the fast change of development of legal system in China, I always have faith in the bright future of our country. During the internship of CIETAC in Beijing, I realized it would be much valuable if I can get a comparative training from another legal system. A different learning experience would be much helpful to broaden our horizons to new areas. US become my first choice since I got a look at the performance of several American lawyers in the court trial of CIETAC. Preparing for TOEFL in a short time was tough and I realized it would be long way with hardship if I’m planning to become international.
Now, I’ve almost finished my one-year study in US. To be honest, the whole academic year is so tough. There seems like to be endless intensive reading and presentation. The “CALL ON” from professors in a crowded class is sometimes horrible to me. On the other hand, thirsty for knowledge, I also enjoyed such period in Wash U. Now I’m more determined and confident to become an international lawyer.
I’m grateful to David and Jayne Education Trust as they offered the scholarship opportunity to me. They are pioneers in this field and I’m very surprised that they have sponsored so many great people.
I’m glad to know all the other scholars once supported by this trust. It’s my great honor to become one of such an excellent group. Hope we can get more achievements in various paths!
