Li Dan, Ruby (Oriel, 2001 - 2005)

Upon graduation I took up the offer from a leading Chinese firm in Beijing rather than pursue further studies. I commenced working a few days after leaving college and became busily involved in lots of M&A deals and IPOs, gaining first-hand experiences about the life as a practicing lawyer.

In the summer this year, I joined Siemens A&D as a legal consultant in its Beijing office. Both during my time at the law firm and in my current work, my readiness and quickness to learn as well as zeal for quality performance impressed my bosses and colleagues, who in turn brought back to me opportunities for career development and higher-level responsibilities, these things, actually, were what I gained from my Oxford experience. I think this precious opportunity granted to me by The David and Jayne Paterson Educational Trust shaped me into the person I am today.
